Climate Change Education Training in Peru

The National Council of Education (CNE) of Peru, in collaboration with the Office for Climate Education (OCE), has launched a training program aimed at integrating environmental sustainability and climate change into the Peruvian educational curriculum. This initiative arises in response to the need to increase environmental awareness, a central concern identified during the National Education Meeting (ENE) 2023a pivotal national meeting in which the OCE was present as an expert.

The program aims to train educators in climate change and sustainability, providing them with the necessary resources to strengthen their educational practices. Furthermore, it seeks to encourage the implementation of educational projects in classrooms and establish a national network of teachers specialized in these topics to promote the exchange of strategies and experiences.

The program includes virtual and in-person workshops that took place between June 12 and June 22, within the framework of the ALEC project (Latin America for Climate Education). These workshops, led by experts from the OCE, were adapted to local conditions and provided educators with practical and scientific tools to improve teaching and understanding of climate change.
