Modelling the climate using a board game

The students explore and understand how they are connected to form the Earth’s climate system. They realise that different environments interact with each other, since they are under the influence of the same variables (e.g. temperature, humidity).

The law of physics

A few experiments on a selection of the parameters listed in the previous lesson, to understand that each is dependent on (aka ‘a function of’) several others. This dependence can be thoroughly described, but not necessarily by the students themselves.

The components of the climate system

Students review the difference between climate and weather. Scientists use physical parameters to describe climate (e.g. temperature, precipitation). Each specialist studies a set of physical parameters. These physical parameters must be studied simultaneously when studying climate. Students study the evolution of these parameters, which are all – at different scales – markers of a warming world.
