Teaching climate issues at the AESTQ congress
As part of the 56th annual congress of the Association for the Teaching of Science and Technology in Quebec (AESTQ), Simon Klein, Science Officer at the Office for Climate Education (OCE), will address an audience of more than 500 primary and secondary school teachers, trainers, and educational experts at the Centrexpo Cogeco Drummondville in Quebec on October 19 and 20, 2023.
The congress titled “Teaching climate issues: education to take action” features a series of workshops and conferences on the theme of education on climate change. On this occasion, Simon Klein will take part in the scientific conference “Climate science updated” which will address the key concepts of climate change education. Two practical workshops of 3 hours each will also be led by Simon Klein and Caroline Côté, educational advisor. These will encourage participants to explore climatic phenomena associated with the greenhouse effect and address issues of food security. Finally, numerous educational guides and resources developed and produced by the OCE will be provided freely to teachers, trainers and didacticians attending the event.
