The Office for Climate Education (OCE) will organize, together with SEAMEO, a workshop for teacher professional developpement on the topic of climate change. This workshop will take place in Bandung, West Java (Indonesia), from the 8th-12th of July.

SEAMEO QITEP in Science (SEAQIS) is a regional institution in Southeast Asia that provides professional developpement for teachers. SEAMEO QITEP in Science has been working on Environmental Education for Sustainable Development since 2009.
This workshop targets 30 experienced teachers (primary and secondary levels) and teacher professional development providers from SEAMEO member countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Lao, Philippines, Singapore, Timor Leste, Thailand, Vietnam).
The workshop is designed to provide participants with knowledge on climate change and skills on inquiry-based science education and is expected to serve as a basis for a Regional Office for Climate Education, which will contribute to a future Asian network on climate change education.
Four hands-on sessions will be carried out on the topic of climate change, with a special focus on the link between climate change and ocean, climate change and agriculture, and climate change and biodiversity. The session on Agriculture and Biodiversity will be led by Dr. Parikesit, professor at the biology department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Universitas Indonesia, who is also Secretary of the Master of Environmental Sciences-Postgraduate Program (PSMIL-PPs) and Secretary of the Research Center for Natural Resources and Environment.

The workshop is supported by SEAQIS affiliation partners: The Office for Climate Education (OCE), National Agency for Disaster Mitigation (BNPB Indonesia), Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO (KNIU), The Man and Biosphere International Co-ordinating Council (MAB-ICC) UNESCO. Professional development providers and experts from different universities, such as the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and the Padjadjaran University (UNPAD)m also contribute to the organisation of this workshop.
